C1776 George III Sterling Silver Trophy

A fine and heavy neoclassical two handled trophy, this sterling silver cup is hallmarked for London, 1776. It weighs a substantial 476 grams, and stands 18.5 cm tall and the diameter of the cup is 10.3 cm. The maker's mark is only half stamped in, so that is a mystery, so far. The existing stamp is quite unusual, so, given enough time, one could identify the maker. It is a very handsome cup, and can be used as sugar bowl, vase or similar.

Easier to photograph before it is polished to a brilliant shine!
