This useful chamberstick is portable, with its carrying handle and wide drip pan. It includes a snuffer, and a trimmer to cut the wick.Before dripless candles were invented the wick had to be manually trimmed to keep up wu ith the flame. The spike on the front is used to dislodge candle stubs from the candle socket. after one has used the slide to push the stub to the top. Tremendously useful at the time, the rapid lighting technological revolution of the 19th century made it obsolete. Electric light switches are much more convenient!
